“Why do we need to wear the same-colored pair of shoes?
When did human beings start wearing the same-colored pair of shoes?
Why is everyone still wearing the same-colored pair of shoes?”
From drinking to being a gang member, he had gotten into countless fights, which one of them almost cost one of his eyes. It was an amazing journey how Lawrence relinquished his past and obtained a scholarship for his Degree in Animation, which he completed in US and eventually, pursuing a Master of Fine Art in Animation by doing odd jobs and performing as a street artist for 2 years. He is now a bestseller author and a famous caricaturist in Singapore. Lawrence Koh has not only his inspiring teachers and mentors to thank, but also the strong support of his wife and family to become who he is today.
Now he is a lecturer in Temasek Polytechnic. On top of his usual teaching, he will always be going the extra miles for his students, like conducting extra workshops for those who need helps. In order to give his students an edge above others, he arranges for vocational industry tie-ups and internships with companies like MediaCorp, QianHu, Seeding Hut, Omens Studios and more. Having taken a longer and tougher route to achieve what he has today, Lawrence wants his students to soar on wings like eagles, to look for opportunities from a higher ground.
Lawrence has produced a series of publications since 2000. Locally, he is the author of the bestselling book Growing Up with Lee Kuan Yew, currently in its 2nd edition published in 2014. The book is on the Top 10 Authors of Bestselling Titles, a compilation in Sunday Life! of The Straits Times from the bestseller lists from Books Kinokuniya, MPH, Popular and Times bookstores. He hopes that by producing meaningful publications and short films, and conducting motivational talks for students and young adults, he is able to give back to Singapore in whatever little ways he can.
